    Happy Holidays

    Adopt a Family

As the holiday season approaches, many families in Indiana face increasing financial strain, making it difficult to provide for their loved ones. In 2023, nearly 40% of Hoosiers reported feeling stressed about affording holiday gifts and meals (Indiana University Public Policy Institute, 2023). Many parents are forced to choose between paying bills and buying gifts, leaving some children to face the harsh realities of their families’ financial hardships.

These situations can cause lasting emotional scars that no child should have to experience.

The demand for holiday assistance programs has surged, with organizations seeing a 30% increase in requests for support compared to previous years (Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, 2023).

According to DataUSA it is estimated that around 200,000+ households in Indiana lack a vehicle, cutting them off from assistance programs that require in person donation pick up.

According to the United Way ALICE Report for Indiana, the majority of low-income households include at least one full-time employed adult. This means that in many of these families, the household’s single vehicle is used by the working parent during the day — or, in single-parent households, the parent cannot pick up donations during business hours without risking their employment also cutting them off from obtainable assistance.

    You can change this!

Become a sponsor and help us make a difference this holiday season by adopting a family or providing a toy for a child in need. Your support delivers joy and hope to families facing challenges, ensuring that they experience the magic of Christmas.

    Eviction/Foreclosure Prevention Program

We serve as a last-resort organization, supporting trustees and other local organizations in their efforts to provide a collaborative full support system for families facing eviction or foreclosure. If families are in a mobile home park the may face both.

Our goal is to aid those when all hope seems lost and no other resources are available.

This prevention is critical in reducing homelessness in Indiana, where over 16,000 individuals experience homelessness on any given night, with more than 1,500 living in hotels or motels due to the lack of affordable housing options (Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, 2023; Indiana Coalition for Human Services, 2023).

By helping families navigate financial challenges, we work to secure stable housing and foster stronger communities.

LIHEAP in Indiana helps low-income households with energy costs, but funding shortages means not everyone receives assistance. In the past winter, about 7,000 eligible households would have gone without aid if benefits hadn't been prorated due to limited funds.

Nearly 198,000 families received heating assistance in 2022, but the number of eligible households Indiana who were left out remains unclear. Nationally 16% of eligible households could not receive energy.

With our “Give the Gift of Power” program, you can help those in need by covering their utility costs and stopping a disconnect .
