What This Program Is
The Last Resort Housing Community Program is designed for families who have already tried all the recommended resources to prevent losing their housing but were unable to secure full assistance. The program serves as a last resort option for those facing eviction, foreclosure, or the possibility of homelessness.
Families are required to first contact a township trustee, applied for referral programs, or reached out to other community organizations for help. In many cases, the assistance available is not enough to cover what is owed. Sometimes appointments are not available before a housing deadline, or assistance may be denied due transportation barriers or there are circumstances beyond the family’s control.
Because the Last Resort Housing Community Program relies 100% on support from the community, funding goals cannot be guaranteed.
How the Program Works
The program helps guide families through the process of confirming that all available resources have been explored. In some cases, transportation to assistance appointments may be available if transportation is a barrier.
Our team helps track pledges, deadlines, and progress while the family works through the verification process.
Each situation and housing deadline is verified with landlord and/or bank. Once all realistic resources have been exhausted and there is still a remaining balance needed to avoid losing housing, the program may begin an anonymous online community fundraising campaign on behalf of the family.

This information is shared with confidential information redacted to protect our clients publicly with donors and community supporters in hopes of raising the remaining funds needed to prevent eviction or foreclosure.
IF the fundraising goal cannot be reached, the program continues working with the applicant to help guide them toward a shelter or another safe housing alternative available in their area.
The program exists to help families in urgent situations with privacy, dignity, compassion, and care, while also ensuring that community resources are used responsibly and that each need is properly verified to protect our donors.

Indiana’s Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is dealing with rising demand and budget shortfalls. In 2023, over 120,000 households applied for assistance, and the number has continued to grow in 2024. Unfortunately, the program’s funding only provides partial relief, leaving many families unable to fully cover their utility bills (Indiana Public Media) .
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
This is especially problematic during the winter months when the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds are spread thin across the state, resulting in delays and limited assistance (IHCDA) .
During the Indiana’s winter utility shut-off moratorium, from October to February, Santa Delivers does not assist with NIPSCO utility payments as clients are protected from disconnects.

Food insecurity is a growing concern in Indiana, with over 1.3 million residents struggling to access sufficient nutritious food (Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, 2023). As inflation continues to impact food prices, many families find it increasingly difficult to put meals on the table. In fact, food prices have risen by nearly 11% in the past year alone (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2024).
You Are Not Alone!
If you are experiencing food insecurity and have already reached out to local food pantries or assistance programs, apply here for additional support on hopes we can help with support from your local community.
