This household includes two working parents and four children who rely on a single vehicle. Dad has experienced reduced hours and then mom had to reduce hours to work around Dad's schedule, a share vehicle and now childcare as school is out for summer. As a result, they have fallen behind on their energy  bill, and defaulted on their last available payment plan. 

For more than two weeks, they have actively sought assistance by contacting local trustee and  agencies, submitting applications, and following up on available resources. Unfortunately, they have been unable to secure any help so they have turned to us who rely on you the community.

After verifying the family's circumstances and confirming that available resources have been exhausted, Santa Delivers AYR launched this last-resort community campaign to help close the remaining gap and keep the lights on for this family.

This verified Lake County household is led by a single mother of five children who is working to rebuild stability after experiencing a traumatic childbirth and an extended hospitalization and recovery.

During her recovery, she lost her employment and has since struggled to catch up on essential household expenses. She is now facing a NIPSCO disconnection while caring for her children and working to regain financial stability.

Determined to prevent this crisis, she actively sought assistance through available community resources. She completed the required steps, traveled to the township trustee's office for assistance, followed up on available programs, and explored payment options. Unfortunately, assistance was not available before the June 9 disconnection deadline, and she was determined to be ineligible for a payment arrangement.
