Evictions have surged by over 13% across Indiana, with thousands of families facing the threat of losing their homes (Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, 2023). This alarming increase doesn’t account for the estimated 12,000 Hoosiers staying in hotels, motels, or temporary housing (Indiana University Public Policy Institute, 2023). If you are one of the many facing eviction and have already sought help from your township trustee, apply here for additional assistance. We’re here to help you during this critical time.
While we gear up for our Christmas season this program is on pause as we do not have the support to do both during our growing phase.
The emergency rental assistance is currently unavailable to apply. The button below will redirect you to their website.
Indiana’s Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is dealing with rising demand and budget shortfalls. In 2023, over 120,000 households applied for assistance, and the number has continued to grow in 2024. Unfortunately, the program’s funding only provides partial relief, leaving many families unable to fully cover their utility bills (Indiana Public Media) . This is especially problematic during the winter months when the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds are spread thin across the state, resulting in delays and limited assistance (IHCDA) .
During the Indiana’s winter utility shut-off moratorium, from October to February, Santa Delivers is not assisting with NIPSCO utility payments as clients are protected from disconnects.
However, we will resume our utility assistance before the moratorium ends in February, ensuring families can get the support they need to manage overdue bills before the shut-offs begin again in March.
Please email us at contact@santadeliversayr.org for emergencies.
Food insecurity is a growing concern in Indiana, with over 1.3 million residents struggling to access sufficient nutritious food (Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, 2023). As inflation continues to impact food prices, many families find it increasingly difficult to put meals on the table. In fact, food prices have risen by nearly 11% in the past year alone (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2024). If you are experiencing food insecurity and have already reached out to local food pantries or assistance programs, apply here for additional support.
